Triton Digital Presents RAIN Maker Award to Entercom's Digital Radio Visionary Tim Murphy
LOS ANGELES, CA – October 3, 2011 – Triton Digital (www.tritondigital.com), a market leader enabling media companies to manage, measure and monetize their content digitally, today announced that it has presented the second-annual RAIN Maker Award to Entercom Vice President of Digital Strategy & Enterprise Platforms, Tim Murphy. Sponsored by Triton Digital, the RAIN Maker Award honors individuals who have contributed significantly to advancing digital radio. Triton Chief Operating Officer Mike Agovino presented the award to Murphy at the RAIN Summit in Chicago on September 13.
Tim Murphy began as Vice President and General Manager at Entercom New England in 2008. Since then, he has expanded his role to include overseeing strategy for Entercom’s wide range of new media efforts such as mobile and social media integration. Murphy also heads PERKS, Entercom's daily deals site that provides local offerings in 21 different markets across the United States. In addition to digital strategy, Murphy focuses his time on newly emerging technologies that benefit sales and enhance collaboration across the company. Murphy has helped build a number of innovative companies during his career, including the Golf Channel, Monster.com, the Boston Globe, BostonWorks and Titleist & FootJoy Worldwide.
"This is a defining moment for radio to maintain what has made it great for decades while adapting to the new realities of how listeners receive content, where they consume it, and how they participate in its actual creation," said Agovino. "Tim Murphy is an exceptional leader in the space."
"I'm honored to receive this recognition," said Murphy. "The reality is that radio is a revolutionary and visionary industry. I am proud that everyday Entercom is working to better serve our listeners, fans and advertisers by connecting a growing and passionate fan base with the best content through the most relevant digital platforms. When we execute well, the results we create continue to amaze me and I can't wait for the future."
Other winners of the RAIN Internet Radio Awards included Pandora for Best Overall Online Radio Service, John Charles Yerxa of Rhythmic CJNW (Hot 107) for Best Streaming Broadcast Station, Hubbard News WTOP for Best Overall Digital Strategy and HealthRadio.net for Best Single-Stream Webcaster. Last year's RAIN Maker Award was given to Michele Laven, Executive Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Clear Channel.
